About Dr. Cameron
Jennifer Cameron, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist who practiced in the Washington, DC area before relocating to Wilmington in 2018. She now resides in Virginia and continues to provide therapy services virtually. Prior to private practice, Dr. Cameron served as a staff psychologist at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) for 16 years, where she provided diagnostic and treatment services for individuals experiencing anxiety and mood disorders. She also worked with the Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Service at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), supporting patients managing complex medical conditions.
Dr. Cameron has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety disorders, OCD, ADHD, insomnia, depression, grief, and trauma-related concerns. Her background in both psychology and nursing allows her to provide thoughtful support to individuals navigating chronic illness, medical diagnoses, and major life transitions.
Therapeutic
Approach
Her clinical work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a focus on helping clients understand patterns that contribute to distress and develop practical coping strategies. She emphasizes collaboration, skill-building, and measurable progress over time.
Dr. Cameron works to create a warm, structured, and supportive environment where clients can build resilience, confidence, and lasting change.
